LOS ANGELES (HedgeWorld.com) - The spectacular claims and equally spectacular failure of a company that held itself out as a diamond mining concern - and as a victim of naked short sellers - attracted a lot of attention in 2006 and 2007. Yet only this month, after that attention lapsed a bit, has the West Coast office of the Securities and Exchange Commission filed a complaint.

The SEC's lawsuit, alleging fraudulent issuance of hundreds of billions of shares of what the company claimed was unrestricted stock to several people, was filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Nevada on April 7 against CMKM Diamonds Inc., its founder Urban Casavant and associated individuals.
