NEW YORK (HedgeWorld.com) - Moody's is creating a capital adequacy scoring system to complement its bank financial strength ratings in order to enhance its capital adequacy methodology for banks and clarify the role of capital adequacy in the bank ratings process.

This comes on the heels of the new Basel II capital standards for banks worldwide, which more tightly link the capital base of an institution to its overall risk profile.
