NATIONAL is concerned about a rise last year in the number of fines being wiped by courts and substituted with other sentences, saying the money from fines is needed for other services.
Figures supplied by National police spokesman Tony Ryall yesterday showed fines wiped for the 2003 financial year amounted to $32 million, up from $29 million in the year before and $23 million in the 1999-2000 year.See the full content of this document
