MONDAY: National Party leader Don Brash is in Taranaki for a number of speaking engagements. The former head of the Reserve Bank was under heavy security while in the region after receiving death threats. Dr Brash has been the country's most controversial politician since being accused of inflaming racial tensions during a Rotary Club speech in Orewa in January.

TUESDAY: Rural Portfolio Investments (RPI), fronted by former Fonterra boss and Taranaki man Craig Norgate, serves notice that it intends to bid for 50.1% control of rural servicing icon Wrightson Ltd. RPI is seeking to spend $51.6 million to raise its stake from a 13% stake to 50.1%. RPI is offering Wrightson shareholders three payment options -- cash, redeemable preference shares in RPI, or a mix of the two.
