Summary
NEW YORK (HedgeWorld.com) - The November performance of nearly all strategies tracked by the Dow Jones Hedge Fund Indexes reflected the market gloom present since the summer credit crisis began. Five of the six strategies in the index recorded net-of-fees losses last month.
Only equity market neutral funds posted gains in November, earning a flat 0.34%, which represented a slight decline from their 0.59% October return. Year-to-date those funds have earned just 0.61%, reflecting the severe losses that hit many quantitative hedge funds throughout the summer and fall. Equity market neutral funds can serve as a good bellwether for quants as many such funds use quantitative techniques to select their long and short positions.See the full content of this document
