WASHINGTON (HedgeWorld.com) - The new chairman of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission is Reuben Jeffrey III, nominated for this post by President Bush May 17, and sworn in July 11.

Although through its36 history the CFTC's chairpersons have come from a variety of backgrounds (the first, William Bagley, who was appointed by President Gerald Ford in 1975, had been a California state legislator for many years, and a regent of the University of California), few can have held as wide a range of positions as Mr. Jeffrey.
