Rocktoberfest Rakes in the Dough
NEW YORK (HedgeWorld.com) - They came, they played, they partied and they raised some serious money. Rocktoberfest, an Oct. 12 charity musical bash featuring singers and instrumentalists from the hedge fund industry, raised more than US$100,000 for A Leg to Stand On, an organization that provides prosthetic limbs and ongoing support to children in developing countries who have limb disabilities.

Owners of Sick Puppy May Escape Prosecution
ANIMAL CONTROL officers believe they know who starved a sick puppy, but the New Plymouth residents may escape prosecution because witnesses want to remain anonymous. Late last month, workmen found the neglected puppy after it had been dumped at a vacant Discovery Pl address. Vets estimated the five-month-old female pitbull cross had been left without food or water for about a month. The animal was in so much agony it had to be put down.
Aucklanders Invade Eastern Taranaki
A TRAIN packed with Aucklanders invaded the tiny Eastern Taranaki town of Douglas yesterday. The town was treated to a rare visit by two 1960s Silver Fern Railcars, which used to run between Auckland and Wellington, but now only operate around Auckland, packed with 200 members of the Railway Enthusiasts Society.
